For competitors

Entering a competition

This page walks through the whole thing in six steps. You create an account, add your dogs once, then pick your classes and pay by card. Your music, your entries, your results and your dogs' history all stay in one place, and if the organiser has switched the scoreboard on you can follow the scores on the day.

1

Create your account

It is free and takes about a minute. One account covers every event on the site.

Registration asks for your name, your email address and a password. We then email you a six-digit code to confirm the address is yours. Type it in and you are signed in. If the email is slow to arrive you can resend it, or skip the code and verify later.

  • The same login covers everything: entries, dogs, payments, and any classes you judge.
  • If you forget your password, the sign-in page has a reset link that emails you a secure link back in.
  • You can change your name, email address or password at any time from My Profile.
2

Add your dogs

You only do this once. After that, entering a class takes three clicks.

My Dogs holds the dogs on your account. Add each dog's registered details and they are ready to enter any event on the site, so you never type them out again. Each dog can have its own handlers, which covers a dog run by someone else in the family, or by a different handler in a different class.

  • Handlers. Add as many as you need. You are the primary handler automatically, marked with an Owner chip.
  • Status. If you mark a dog Retired it stops appearing in new entry forms, but it keeps all its history.

info Kennel name and KC number are what appear in the show catalogue, so it is worth getting them right first time. You can edit a dog later and it will not affect past entries.

Find an event

Browse what is coming up, narrow it down, and read the schedule before you commit to anything.

Upcoming events are listed on the home page and in full on the event search, where you can filter by name, discipline and date. The only events that appear are ones the organiser has published and opened for entries, so if you can see it, you can enter it.

Open an event and everything you need to decide is on one page before you spend anything: the date and venue, the closing date for entries, the entry prices including the member price if the organiser offers one, any extras such as parking or camping, and the full class list with how many places are left in each.

  • Capacity. Each class shows its entries against its limit, for example 12/20.
  • Closing date. Once entries close, the button changes to Registration Closed.
  • Judges and helpers assigned to a class are listed, so you know who you are running under.

Choose your classes

One row per entry: class, dog, handler. You can add as many rows as you like in one go.

The entry form is kept simple. Pick a class, pick a dog, and the handler fills itself in from that dog's handler list. If you want another class, or the same class with a second dog, click Add another entry at this event and fill in another row. It all goes through one checkout.

For Heelwork to Music and freestyle classes your music is part of the entry. You upload the MP3 in the same form and it goes straight to the organiser, so nobody is emailing files around on the morning of the show.

  • Several dogs and several classes. Add every entry for the event in one form and pay once.
  • Extras such as parking and camping are set by the organiser and added to the same payment.
  • Anything missing is flagged before you pay. If a class, dog, handler, music file or licence plate is not filled in, it says so at the point of entry rather than afterwards.

Check the price and pay

You get an itemised breakdown, then pay by card. There are no bank transfers or cheques involved.

The price breakdown updates as you go. There is a line for each class entry labelled with the class and dog, a line for each extra, and one service fee for the purchase, which covers card processing and running the site. That fee is charged once per purchase rather than per class, so entering four classes together costs one fee, not four.

On the day, and afterwards

Follow the scores as they come in, and keep the results afterwards.

My Entries lists everything you have entered, grouped by event. There is an Active tab for what is coming up and a Completed tab for what has been and gone, with your placings.

If the organiser switches on the live scoreboard for a class, anyone with an account can follow it and there is nothing to install. Open it on your phone at the ringside and it refreshes itself as the judge confirms each score, ranked highest total first.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to have an account?

No. Accounts are free. You only pay when you enter an event, and you see the full total before you confirm.

What if the class I want is full?

A full class shows as FULL and cannot be selected. Some organisers switch on overspill, which opens an extra section of the same class automatically, and in that case you can still enter.

Can I enter several dogs and classes at once?

Yes. Add a row for each entry in the same form and pay for the lot together. The service fee applies once to the purchase, not once per class.

Can I change or cancel an entry?

Entry payments are non-refundable, so it is worth double-checking before you pay. If something needs correcting, contact the event organiser. Their details are on the event page.

Do I need an account to watch the scoreboard?

Yes, although signing up is free and takes a minute. Once you are in, any live scoreboard the organiser has switched on is there to follow.

Is this only for Heelwork to Music?

No. HTM is where it started, which is why the music handling is built in, but the same entry, payment and scoring flow works for agility, obedience, rally, scentwork, working trials, fun days and training classes.

What about flyball?

Not yet. Flyball is teams racing head to head in heats over several rounds, and the site currently treats a class as a list of individual entries that get ranked once, so there is nowhere to put teams, heats or divisions. Entries and payment would work, the results would not, so we would rather say so than half-support it. It is on the list for the future, and if you run flyball and want it sooner, open a support ticket and tell us how your league scores.
