Terms and Conditions

Version 1.0 · in effect from 22 August 2026

1. These terms

These terms govern your use of dog-events.uk, run by Dog Events. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site.

We may update these terms. If we do, we will ask you to agree to the new version next time you sign in, and the version number at the top of this page will change. Contact us at [email protected].

2. Your account

  • You must be 18 or over to create an account. Younger handlers are welcome to compete, but they must be entered by a parent or guardian using that adult's account.
  • Give us accurate details and keep them up to date. Entry confirmations, running orders and changes on the day all reach you by email.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we reasonably believe it is being used fraudulently.
  • You can close your account at any time in your account settings. Our Privacy Notice explains what happens to your data, including the parts we keep.

3. Your dogs and handlers

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you record about your dogs, including anything that determines eligibility for a class - age, height, measurement, grade or registration number. An entry made on wrong information may be disqualified by the organiser, and that is not something we can refund on your behalf.

Where you name someone else as a handler, you confirm you have their permission to give us their name and email address. If the handler is under 18, their parent or guardian must agree.

4. Entering an event

We are a booking platform, not the organiser. When you enter an event, your contract is with the event organiser, who is the seller. We act as their agent to take the entry and the payment. The organiser sets the classes, the rules, the schedule and the entry fees, and runs the show on the day.

  • Your entry is confirmed once payment is complete. Until then a place is only held temporarily and may be released.
  • Prices shown include the organiser's entry fee plus a service fee covering payment processing and our platform costs. The breakdown is shown before you pay.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Entry fees go to the organiser's own Stripe account; we receive only the service fee.
  • There is no 14-day cooling-off period. Consumer cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 do not apply to leisure activities booked for a specific date, which is what a show entry is.
  • Refunds are the organiser's decision and follow whatever refund policy they publish for the event. If you want to withdraw an entry, contact the organiser. We will process a refund once they instruct us to.
  • If an organiser cancels or abandons an event, they are responsible for refunding entry fees. We will help make that happen, but we do not underwrite it - we never held that money.
  • Nothing here affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 against the organiser if the event is not run with reasonable care and skill.

5. Running an event

If you create an event on the platform, you also agree that:

  • You hold whatever licence or authorisation your event requires. If your show runs under Kennel Club rules or those of another governing body, you hold the correct licence and will comply with that body's rules and regulations. If it does not, you say so clearly in the event details so entrants know what they are entering.
  • You hold appropriate public liability insurance for the event.
  • You are responsible for the welfare of dogs at your event and for compliance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and any local authority requirements.
  • You publish accurate details - date, venue, classes, fees, closing date and your refund policy - and you tell entrants promptly about changes, cancellation or abandonment.
  • You are the seller for entries to your event, and you are responsible for refunds.
  • You need a connected Stripe account to receive entry fees. Stripe's own terms apply to that account and Stripe may require identity verification before paying out.
  • Entrant data is for running your event only. You become a data controller for the entry information you receive and must handle it in line with UK data protection law. You may use the platform's email tool to send entrants, judges and helpers messages about your event - schedules, changes, results, requests for help. You must not use it for advertising or promotion, and you must not add anyone to a mailing list, export their details for other purposes, or pass them to a third party.
  • We may remove an event, or withdraw access to the platform, where we reasonably believe this section is being breached.

6. Results and catalogues

Running orders, catalogues, scoreboards and results name competitors and their dogs, and are visible to organisers and other users of the platform. Results are a permanent record: once a class has been judged, entries and placings stay published even if you later close your account. Our Privacy Notice explains this in full.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the site to:

  • enter false information, or impersonate anyone
  • harass, abuse or threaten other users, organisers or judges
  • upload anything unlawful, or anything you do not have the rights to
  • collect other users' details for any purpose other than running an event
  • attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service

8. Files you upload

You keep ownership of music, photos and other files you upload. You give us permission to store them and to play or display them as needed to run the events you enter them for - which for music means playing it in the ring. You confirm you have the right to use each file for that purpose. We may remove anything that appears to infringe someone else's rights.

9. Availability

We work to keep the site running but cannot promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may suspend it for maintenance. Entries close at times set by organisers, so please do not leave an entry to the last minute.

10. Our responsibility to you

We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Beyond that: we provide the booking platform, not the events. We are not responsible for how an event is run, for decisions made by organisers or judges, for injuries or incidents at a venue, or for an organiser cancelling, changing or abandoning a show. Claims about the event itself lie against the organiser.

Where we are liable to you for the platform itself, our liability is limited to the service fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit or opportunity.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
